- Place within 5 ft of the curb or roadway
- Keep 1.5 to 5 feet away from vehicles, fences, and mailboxes
- Maintain minimum 18 ft overhead clearance
- Place on a flat, level surface
- Ensure easy truck access for pickup

- On soft, muddy, or unstable ground
- On slopes
- Beneath power lines or low-hanging branches

- Place heavy materials on the BOTTOM
- Limit heavy, dense materials to 10″ deep
- Put lighter materials on TOP
- Distribute weight evenly
- Keep contents level with the top edge
